NBC'S blog chat with Juliet Mills (Tabitha). Original trascript found here.
This chat took place on October 18, 2007. I do not claim ownership to this transcript, I just wanted fans to read it.
Q. If I could play anyone else, who
Juliet: I think I'd play Norma. She's an awful lot of fun. I like the comedic parts. I wouldn't want to play any of the parts where you keep getting into bed with people so I think I'll stick with Norma.
Who am I closest with off set
Juliet: Heidi Mueller because we've worked so much together and we have a lot of laughs. We work a lot but we have a lot of laughs as well. And then Nicole, of course, my little favorite.
I'm also close with Nicole family - her mother. We only socialize maybe twice a year, but I do hang out with her mother sometimes and she's very sweet.
It's a lovely family, the four kids and her husband. I've met them all and have been to their house, and I'm sure I'll know Nicole forever. She's been my little girl for four years!
What would I do if I were a witch
Juliet: I'd have to be a white witch. I'd use my magic in a positive way to make good things happen like coming up with a Thanksgiving dinner for a family that doesn't have anything.
Will my sister appear?
Juliet: That would be fun, but I don't think so... not anytime soon, anyway. She's actually doing a TV series for the BBC in South Africa right now. And also,
she's rather quite frightened of soaps. She doesn't think she could learn the lines, but I know she could. She doesn't like the idea of learning so many pages every night.
Heidi and I had to just learn 47 pages in a night. It took us four hours to do it. It can be exhausting. And Haley once said, "I don't want to do that; that's a lot of work"
But I'm sure we can cajole her into a small part sometime.
Who do I look up to as an actor?
Juliet: There's a lot of them. You know, the older actors... people I've worked with or admired all my life. People like Jack Lemon, Lawrence Olivier, Vivien Leigh.
There's some wonderful actors and actresses today. Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix are great. Also Cate Blanchett and my friend Judi Dench.
And oh yeah... Brad Pitt's not bad! I think I wouldn't mind sharing a scene with him or two ;)
Acting on Passions
Juliet: I think the best part is really the consistancy of the work. You work with the same people and you have these on camera relationships and it's a great way to
improve your acting chops. You become so relaxed and loose and real and that is what it really is all about. You convince people that this is real and true. So,
it becomes easier. You see great acting and some very bad acting, too! The veterans are amazing even when they are not working with the best writing material.
If I could go back in time what role would I play?
Juliet: Maybe Vivien Leigh's part in "Streetcar Named Desire." That's going way back in time, isn't it?
Strangest fan encounter
Juliet: I really haven't had many of those. One of the funniest was when a couple of ladies saw me in CostCo and came screaming down the aisle yelling,
"It's the witch, it's the witch." I thought that was funny. I shot them a lightening bolt and scared the pants off them.
The Passions Experience
Juliet: The whole experience has been wonderful. Here I am doing it eight years later and I'm still enjoying it
Halloween
Juliet: Yes, I always dress up for Halloween. I like dressing up as Lazy. Black leotards and a pumpkinhead. I like wearing masks for Halloween, too. It's the witchy part of me, I guess.
My favorite scary Halloween movie is Nightmare on Elm Street. That Freddy is one terrifying bad guy.
Good Versus Bad
It's fun to play bad Tabitha. She's so rude to everybody! She has two sides and that's always fun and entertaining. I have always enjoyed Tabitha's scenes with Endora, she brings out her good side.
Unwinding after a long day
I usually cook dinner for my husband and my daughter. I find it relaxing. I love cooking and sipping a glass of vino and enjoying a nice meal. I also enjoy gardening, I find that very relaxing, too. I do things around the house, I am very domestic. That is my way of unwinding.
Martimmys
Juliet: I prefer my Martimmys stirred ;)
What's the title of my book?
Juliet: The best place to find my book is in my garage. It's called "Mind, Body, and Soul in Silence." It's a small little book.
A sort of handbook of anecdotes and recipes and tips I've found out that makes life a little easier
Strangest Fan Encounter
Juliet: I haven't had that many fan encounters. One of the funniest was a group of women who saw me costume as a witch and they dropped their purses
and went screaming down the hall. I went into character and loved it. I couldn't get mushy on them. I had to let them think they saw a real witch
Other career choice
Juliet: I would be a nurse. I always liked making people feel better. Maybe it's the maternal side of me.
Farewell
Juliet: Thank you everybody for all of your comments and questions. I enjoyed reading them.
Remember to come out to Hollywood's Universal CityWalk this Saturday for the largest gathering of people in Halloween costumes.
We want to set the Guiness World Record! For those of you who show up dressed as a witch, you'll be entered into a raffle to win a set tour of Passions.
The gathering begins at 2:30. Hope to see you there!
